Most bets settle exactly as you would expect: the match finishes, the market resolves, the slip pays or it does not. The rules matter for the rest — the postponed fixtures, the retirements, the matches that end in ways nobody planned for. Knowing them in advance turns a confusing settlement into an expected one.
The situations that come up most
- a match is postponed — bets are usually void and stakes returned if the fixture is not replayed within the window the rules set;
- a player retires — in tennis and similar sports, settlement depends on how far the match got, and each sport has its own threshold;
- a venue changes — a neutral ground can void bets that depended on home advantage;
- a void leg in an accumulator — the leg is treated as a return and the rest of the slip continues, rather than the whole slip being cancelled.
Cash out
Cash out closes a bet early for an amount the system offers at that moment, based on the current state of the match. It is a convenience rather than a strategy: taking a guaranteed smaller return instead of an uncertain larger one. The offer moves constantly during a live match and is not always available — a suspended market means no cash out until it reopens.
